Happy May everyone! It’s my fifth month blogging and I’ve learned a lot so far. One of the most useful things I’ve discovered is reading other bloggers income reports. It has really helped me learn where and how to monetize my blog. Here is my April income report, my most money yet!

Blog Income Report – April 2016

ShareASale – $76.50

GUNAS New York – $25

Madison Reed – $10

Stella & Dot – $10

1stinCoffee -$4

Candy Club – $17.50

Aloha – $10

I’ve written previously about how much I love ShareASale and my love for it has only grown since then. In March, I made $8.99 through ShareASale, so as you can tell, this month was a great improvement!

IZEA – $3

I like IZEA, I just wish they had more opportunities. Hopefully, eventually, I will qualify for more sponsored posts soon.

Google Adsense – $2.75

I do not understand how anyone makes hundreds of dollars through Adsense. It is a very, very slow source of income for me. It will be years before I reach the $100 payout

APRIL 2016 INCOME TOTAL  – $82.25 ($68.95 more than I made the previous month!)

April 2016 – My analytics stats all took a dip from March.
  • I would love to get more page views. My hope for 4,000 page views was way off, I had about 1,400 fewer page views in April than I had in March which has been pretty discouraging.
  • More posts – It gets hard to come up with original content because there are so many couponing and savings blogs out there.
  • More email subscribers – I had one person sign up in April, better than nothing but I’d like to improve that.
  • Refer people to Dealspotr – I think it’s a pretty awesome and easy way to get Amazon gift cards that not enough people know about. In April, I earned $20 in gift cards through Dealspotr!  I even wrote about its awesomeness and how it works. If you’re interested, use my link and you will get 5,000 points to start off with! Halfway to an Amazon gift card!

  1. That’s awesome! I haven’t monetized mine yet…I tried Google AdSense but I was making so little that I decided it wasn’t worth cluttering up my page with the ads (for now…if I get more traffic I’ll reconsider). This month I want to focus on setting up my Amazon affiliate links.

    1. I tried doing using Amazon affiliates, but I was having no luck, no one was clicking! When you successfully set up your Amazon links, let me know, I’d love to hear how you did it!

      1. I’ve only been blogging for a little under 2 months, and just started with Amazon affiliates. I have read a lot into it before starting so I think that’s helped me a bit. But in my first 2 weeks since I started with them I made my first sale, only made a few cents profit off it, but hey, at least in able to learn what links are working to get them to the site now.

  2. You’re doing awesome Sarah! I have Share A Sale too, and I love it, but I need some tips on how to get more sales through them.

  3. Loved reading this, especially since your income report is just starting and I just started my blog 7 weeks ago. So this is closer to reality for me. My main goal last month was to reach a thousand page views since it was the first full month the blog was up. Reached that goal. This month I wanted to have 3000 views but somehow hit that in one day! So now I want to learn how to monetize my blog by the end of May 🙂
    Thank you for sharing

    1. 3000 page views in a day? Teach me your ways! If you have any questions about monetizing when you first start out, just ask. I’ve found a lot of the articles about monetizing don’t always apply to newbie bloggers.

  4. I cancelled adsense altogether unless you have crazy traffic i just don’t see how you make money from it. I have made 25 with share a sale but it was largely due to a signup bonus.

    1. Yeah, I don’t understand how people make upwards of $20 a day using ad sense! Check out my post about ShareASale, some of the affiliates pay you just for posting banners or writing about their company!

      1. I’ve used Adsense for over a year and haven’t reached the $100 threshold yet. It seems that you can make something if you have a lot of visitors, like thousands each day. You also need a high page rpm. Sometimes the page rpm is several dollars. I’ve seen it over $20 every now and then. Those are the times when you need a lot of traffic.

        1. I don’t think I’ll get to the $100 mark for like 5 years – I didn’t know that about the page rpm though, I need to check that out!

  5. You are motivating me to start the process to monetize. I had 6,000 page views last month (after 7 months of blogging) and haven’t signed up for any sponsored posts. I am going to go sign up for instagram now to get that started.

    1. Wow, 6000 page views! I can’t even imagine ever getting that many, congrats! Instagram is fun, follow me at 20somethingcoup once yours is up!

  6. You totally just motivated me to start making actual monthly goals. I’ve been saying I will do it for months but now I realize I actually need to. Congrats on your month! 🙂

    1. Thank you Kara and good luck on your month goals too, it’s really fun to look back on them and see what you accomplished!
